Great Ormond Street Hospital
In May and June 2012 BHC Furniture was asked to tender for the up and coming multi million pound redevelopment of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Restaurant and new children’s ward.
Furniture products had to have clean lines and soft edge detail for he restaurant area. Desks and chairs would need to co-ordinate and meet the high standard required in the administration areas of the new ward.
Following a couple of user group meetings and an open day that allowed BHC to showcase most suitable options, BHC were delighted to be chosen as the successful partner to deliver furniture for these key areas in the hospital.
The Restaurant
BHC specified the Casper range for seating, which has a matt facia and glossy back with a chrome base, the chairs can be stacked and linked together which was a pre-requisite. A central aspect of the range is its ability to be cleaned easily and although a hard plastic chair, it also has a comfortable seat. Tables were from Allermuir, the Open range with a Polyrey top and wood detail under the lip. As it’s available in a variety of base styles and edging detail, BHC were able to use the same range that offers a fun and interesting look.
The Administration Area
The desk range chosen was Pulsar noted for its sturdy but aesthetic frame in MFC white. The task chair selected was the Sprint which, despite competition, came to the finishing line in first place due to the overall functions and price point.
The project was a great success, apart from being delivered on time, gave BHC an immense sense of pride to be involved in such a wonderful institution.
